53 years old, holds a Master's (MA) in Political Theory and International Relations from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, was a Gulbenkian scholar and visiting researcher at the University of Oxford (St. Catherine's College), and completed an Advanced Management Program (AMP) jointly run by Kellogg University and UCP.
A journalist by background, he has built a solid track record in general management, with broad experience in marketing, sales and team leadership.
He began his career in economic and financial journalism, as Editor-in-Chief of Diário Económico — an economic and financial daily newspaper— where he set up a new-business unit (intelligence reports and live-media events, with projects in Brazil, China and Poland). He then moved to Sonae SGPS as Head of Brand and Institutional Relations, working directly with the CEO to build the group's corporate brand.
As an entrepreneur, he co-founded the daily newspaper i with a team of former colleagues; launched in record time, it was voted European Newspaper of the Year in 2010 and described by The Guardian as the most innovative newspaper in the world.
In the following years he was at Grupo Impresa, the largest private media company in Portugal — first as Publisher and Head of New Business, where he restructured the print portfolio and created a "New Business" unit, and then as a member of the Executive Committee and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for annual revenue exceeding €130M across television, print and digital.
A regular economic and political commentator (Público an RTP Notícias), he is a visiting professor at the Institute of Political Studies of Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
In 2018, he co-founded CoRe Capital, where he is a founding partner and Senior Partner.
