Joel Curado, PhD, is the CEO and co-founder of Distli, a start-up that develops blockchain infrastructure for settlement and fraud prevention in the telecommunications and financial (DeFi) sectors, creating neutral settlement rails for competing operators in international roaming. He holds a degree in Economics from ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon, a PhD in Information Technology Sciences from ISCTE-IUL and an Executive MBA from IE Business School, complemented by executive certifications from the Harvard Kennedy School, IMD and UC Berkeley.
With over 19 years’ experience, he has led digital transformation, blockchain and smart cities initiatives in companies and governments globally, including a stint at Cisco Systems. He is Executive Director of the postgraduate programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at ISEG Executive Education, where he established and leads the programme’s corporate partnerships division. He is also a partner at Angularis Capital, a venture capital fund dedicated to Web3 technologies, and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Logistics at Molde University in Norway, having previously been a visiting professor at IE Business School.
