Responsible for sustainable finance at EDP's finance department.
Carlos has collaborated in the definition of the sustainable finance strategy of the group and in the structuring of several sustainable financings. Since joining EDP in 2018, EDP has started issuing green bonds, reaching a cumulative amount of EUR 8.8 billion by the end of 2022, and signed the first sustainability-linked loan in August 2022 for EUR 3.65 billion. He has been invited to speak at conferences and university lectures on sustainable finance.
Financial professional with extensive experience in an international environment in sustainability, debt structuring, and corporate finance functions. Before joining EDP, he spent 10 years at KPMG in financial consulting, in Lisbon and Washington, DC in the USA. Besides the energy and infrastructure sectors, he also worked in the engineering and real estate investment sectors.
He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and an MBA from INSEAD.
